April

Would
you like to know more about Amish history and culture? This exhibition
provides an introduction to Lancaster County's Amish community.
Visit this exhibition to learn about language, education, religion,
cottage industries and decorative arts. Make some noise
while you play with Amish-made wooden toys. Challenge your knowledge
about the Amish community by investigating commonly-held misconceptions.
The
Print Shop
April
13 - December 31, 2009
This is not your typical exhibition of historic objects in a quiet
setting. Visit this exhibition to meet and talk with a volunteer
printing demonstrator, who will show you the inner workings of
a 1920s-era print shop. Demonstrators are on hand periodically
to run the press and explain the process of printing. Also
in the print shop are numerous interactives to challenge visitors
to do some of the work required by an expert printer.
The Heritage Center's
volunteer printers have established an organized group, the .918
Club. Visit their beautiful website: .918
Club. Also consider visiting a related site that provides
an overview of the history of printing in Lancaster County:
Lancaster Lyrics.
The Printer is in during many
hours each month. View their schedule here.
