Redware Pottery by Ned Foltz

Ned Foltz of Reinholds crafts Pennsylvania pottery like that originally made in the 18th and 19th centuries. Using traditional methods of throwing and glazing, Ned's glaze is free of lead so his pottery is safe to use with food and drink. Foltz pottery is quite collectible, especially the hollow pieces featuring animals or birds. The plates are slip decorated with a wide range of Pennsylvania Dutch motifs, including birds, tulips, and pinwheels.

Redware Pitcher by Greg Shooner

We are always bringing in new & unique pieces of Greg Shooner's redware. This pitcher is one example of his exemplary skills in creating authentic reproductions of redware pottery. Each piece carries with it a story of the past with his technique of premature aging.

Thistles and Thorns Redware Plate
by Greg Shooner

Noted redware potter Greg Shooner of Ohio has beautifully reproduced this important piece, using shards of the original for this plate that were unearthed at 135 East King Street, just two blocks from the Heritage Center Museum. Typical of kitchenware used in Southeastern Pennsylvania in the 18th century, this plate carries the adage "Thistles and Thorns can hurt me but sharp tongues much more."
